Against the odds, with storm Ciara affecting travel and the Coronavirus outbreak causing operational issues for many, there was a great turnout at this year’s Southern Manufacturing & Electronics show. The event was 9% busier than last year and the mood felt very optimistic, providing the perfect opportunity to discuss casting projects.
The International Exhibition & Conference Centre in Farnborough provided a world-class setting for over 800 exhibitors showcasing their products and capabilities to 9,256 visitors from a wide range of industry sectors. We spoke to visitors from the electronics, automotive, aerospace, defence, food processing, medical & scientific equipment and general engineering industries, to name a few.
Lots of interest was generated, particularly around sand casting, pressure die casting and investment casting but also around gravity die casting and machining, with aluminium alloys being the most discussed material over the three days.
We spoke to prospects whose current supply is being impacted by the Coronavirus epidemic and who are looking for alternative sources. With our strong UK manufacturing base and alternative low-cost sources, they were keen to talk to us about our solutions and we are confident in our ability to respond to their needs.
Follow up discussions are well underway with many of the people we met during the show and we are optimistic that the show will drive further growth at Haworth Castings and the wider Expromet Technologies Group.
